American Revolution

The American Revolution was one of the most radical events in history. Britain had always controlled the colonists and now it was time for change. The colonists were tired of being taxed and controlled by Parliament who resided all the way across the sea. Colonists fought for their indepedence during the Revolution and risked everything that they had. Everything that the colonist depended on was somehow linked to Britain (ex. trade and government) and after the war was over, colonists were in a different situation where they had to figure out how to find other ways to get supplies and goods. They eventually set up trade with Asia and France and created their own government despite how effective it was. The colonists experienced all of these changes just to gain their independence from Britain and this is why I believe American Revolution was so radical.

Christopher Columbus

I do not believe that we should celebrate Columbus day for he did not discover the Americas. When Columbus arrived in America, the Native Americans were already there. But, the vikings were said to have been there long before the Native Americans. Either way, it was not Columbus so why should he get all the glory for "discovering" our country when everyone knows he did not. But does this make him a villan? In my opinion, no. Though it could be argued that he was a villan because of stealing the title of "America's founder" from the people who really were. Even though we are sure he did not discover America, Columbus was in fact a great explorer.
