Andrew Jackson

Some people consider Andrew Jackson as a king and others consider him as the president of the common man. I believe that he is somewhat both.

Andrew Jackson always favored the southern farmers which in his time was the majority of people. He believed in equality of all people and was a very strict constructionalist who would do anything to perserve and protect the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. However, even though he believed in this equality of all people, he was a slave owner. Kind of contradicting if you ask me. Also during his presidency started the Indian Removal act which drove the indians out of their land and further west. Even though it was not so nice to the indians, it greatly benefited the white man. It greatly extended trade and farming. Also, it opened up a lot of space for people to settle.

Although Jackson may have not done everything perfectly during his presidency, I believe that he was a very good president who tried to do the best for the majority of the people in his time.
